This this app allows you to remote in to a laptop, phone, tablet, so when you download it you give them access.
Gave my mom step by step instructions on how to download the app and my mom followed. The lady advised that she needed to download this app so they could her help her get her account corrected. ummm I don't have anything apple (Team Android and PC at this hosue). My mom was confused because she tried to be one of those annoying get out and vote texters, so she thought it was legit, but didn't stop to think. They aksed if she had any contact with people in Florida and a couple other states. I believe this app is being used to fraud the elderly So some random person called my mom today and said she was from Apple (now i learned it was Amazon)and something was wrong with her account. Again, education is important to avoid these situations. AnyDesk just makes it easy because all it takes is a little social engineering to get the the victim to hand over the code needed for access. Scammers could use any tool for that purpose.
I don't think it's fair to blame AnyDesk for scammers and malicious intent. Learn the signs that you could be scammed and what to avoid. I do not deny that people could use this tool for malicious intent but I think education about scammers is important. This is only possible if 1) you or someone you know install the app and 2) if you provide the device code generated by the app to the said scammer. Regarding the "scammer" reviews I've seen for this app: Yes, this app can be used to remotely control devices. It is nice to simply hop in the driver's seat for a minute, address the issue and let them be on their way. To elaborate a bit, this is a great tool to use if, say, you have a relative who is always calling and asking for help but it often becomes cumbersome to try and walk them through certain tasks to fix issues on their device.
This is a great app/tool to use if you have cases where you need to access devices which are not physically accessible.
